Research Process ||
At Pioneer Research Bureau, we see the research process as comprising 6 distinct stages. We want to be known among our clients and peers for top-quality research insights; and we believe that this pivots upon sound execution of each consecutive stage in the research process.
"A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." We find this adage particularly apt in communicating our commitment to research process excellence.

Defining the Business and Research Problems
It is important as a first step in any survey research to first understand the business problems and to translate them into the relevant research questions to be answered. While most businesses can correctly identify the business issues, translating them into meaningful and focused research areas may not always be that easy. It therefore requires extensive consultation with the various stakeholders (e.g., management, customers, frontline staff, etc.,) prior to the survey implementation.
Establishing the Research Objectives and Measurement Framework
A well-designed framework will enable the users to clearly establish the cause-and-effect relationships between the variables measured, and how these drivers ultimately affect the desired outcomes (e.g., loyalty, customer satisfaction, purchase intent, etc.,).
Designing the Research Plan
Simply stated, the Research Plan outlines what needs to be done to achieve the stated objectives. It comprises four main components:
The questionnaire designThe questionnaire needs to be pre-tested to ensure that it is properly structured and objectively phrased, so as to avoid any ambiguities in the wording of survey questions and/or order bias.
The sampling planIt is important to ensure that a representative sample of the target population is extracted, without which the extrapolation of the sample findings will not yield meaningful results.
The data collection methodologyThis is probably the most time-consuming and resource-intensive part of the research process. The number of interviewers, their qualifications, linguistic abilities must be clearly communicated.
Analysis PlanThe analytical techniques deployed will depend, to a large extent, on the questionnaire design. This, in turn, is formulated based on the research framework established in Phase II. The Research Plan is essentially a map of the entire research process. Pioneer Research Bureau will provide a comprehensive Research Plan to the client upon the project acceptance. This is an important documentation that will guide the overall engagement between the client and Pioneer Research Bureau.
Fieldwork and Data CollectionThere are several ways to collect the information ranging from the less subtle (e.g., Mystery Shopper Audit/Observation techniques, consumer panels, Online Survey) and intrusive approaches (e.g., mail-out and online surveys) to the more pro-active methods (e.g., intercept studies, face-to-face interviewing, phone survey).
Pioneer Research Bureau has the capabilities to implement just about any survey work in the region.
- A network of 100 interviewers that may be deployed for survey studies
- A network of tested research suppliers in almost every part of India.
Data Processing
As soon as the data are collected (or captured), it will be subjected to Pioneer Research Bureau's unique comprehensive quality assurance process. Thus composed of visual inspection, telephone recalls, sophisticated logic manipulation checks.
Analysis and Reporting
There are typically two types of analysis delivered. The basic statistical analysis refers to the conventional frequencies and cross-tabulations. Pioneer Research Bureau is able to customize the cross-tabulations to the requirements of the businesses. This may be built on Excel, SAS or SPSS, depending on the preference of the client.
Pioneer Research Bureau has a team of statisticians that are versed in advanced statistical analysis and econometric modeling techniques. Utilizing an impressive range of leading edge analytical tools, Pioneer Research Bureau offers value-added services that provide deeper insights into research findings.
